Hi Can anyone help me with the correct settings for an Epson Stylus Colour 980 in Photoshop 7? All my printouts are far too dark.
Thank you
Alan

I would start by making sure Photoshop color management is configured correctly. See: <http://www.computer-darkroom.com/ps7-colour/ps7_1.htm>

Check out all of his technical discussions that involve Epson and Photoshop. It will be time well spent.

One tip you may miss in Ians pages is this. "Too dark" is very often a complaint of early Epson models. Ian suggests changing media from "Photo Glossy Paper" (for instance) to "Photo Glossy Film". The media one chooses is Epson’s way of controlling dot gain (spread) and choosing Film will lay down less ink. Made a world of difference for me.

Alan,
Did you get any luck as yet? I have a new epson 960….and while it prints well, the colors I seen on the screen are not exactly the colours that are printing. Is there a step by step guide to what should be done? A couple days ago I went into photoshop’s "print with preview" box and selected color management…but, the print is still not the same. Reading all the information on line sometimes gets confusing. Is there some step by step instruction or guide that I can follow?

Thanks
Marci

See the link in Post #1. 15 minutes, you’ll be well on your way.

Marcia,
As Tony says, Ian Lyons’ tutorials are the place to be. You will need to calibrate your monitor with the Adobe Gamma Utility, setup color management, use the Print Preview function to setup your print jobs ( probably with "Printer Color Management" as an output space profile ) , and other issues perhaps. The tutorials cover all this very well using the Epson driver. Mostly you might get confused by too much info , rather than not enough.
