I have a word where I need to put an accent mark over the e. Is there a feature in Photoshop 7 (which I use), that allows me to simply choose what ACSII mark I need or do I need to create it?

Run: Accessories > System Tools > Character Map

Then pick what you need from a font in Character Map, copy, and paste.

If it’s an acute accent use the Alt Gr key.

ALT 130 = é
ALT 138 = è
ALT 136 = ê
ALT 137 = ë

For accesnt on other vowels see this link.

What is the Gr key. I have an American keyboard?

Just as a point of clarification on George’s suggestion (e.g., Alt 130, etc.). You need to use the numeric pad in conjunction with the Alt key. The numbers across the top of the keyboard do not work.

In Photoshop, it does not matter whether the NumLock key is on or off. It works both ways. But in Microsoft Word, for example, you must have NumLock ON.

No, but CTRL+ALT gives the same key-code as the Alt/Gr key [the L/h ALT key] on European keyboards.

So, CTRL+ALT + e will give é
CTRL+ALT + e will give á etc.

I just tried it and it does not work on my machine (US keyboard). There is no character generated by CTL + ALT + e

Interesting, Don – that must also be limited to European keyboard layouts too.

I probably should look into a UK keyboard. Easier accents would be cool in Canada, where we have to deal with French a lot.

Don,

I think there is more to it than just changing the keyboard. I would think that you also have to change the native language of Windows.

I could be wrong. I’ve never done it.
