Hi,

I did have PS CS3 beta on my XP pc and removed it a couple of months ago but I can’t remember if I deactivated it or not – silly me!

I have PS CS2, Dreamweaver 8, Fireworks 8 and Adobe Premiere 2 on my pc at the moment and they are all working – problem free.

I’m thinking of trying the PS CS3 trial .. what do you think?

thanks for any suggestions and help,

Michael

Hello Michael,

When you install a trial version (or any version come to that) PS writes data to the boot section of your hard drive. This data contains information as to its "environment" hardware etc. This is how it lnows that it has been installed before and prevents installing the trial version ad infinitum. The only way to remove this data is a low level format of the hard drive, (don’t ya just love Adobe?)I’m not sure if the beta version worked in the same way. (multiple installations)You’ve nothing to lose by trying the trial version, it will either work or it won’t ( a suck it and see situation)

I had an activation issue that was resolved after two telephone calls. After I gave all the necessary information to the firs person, I had to give the same information to two additional people. Apparently they don’t have real time DBs.

M,

As I said earlier, it will either work or it won’t. Create a system resore point before you try to install the trial version (it should do this anyway) then, if the brown stuff hits the air conditioning, you can restore your PC the earlier time.

That’s a smart thing to do before installing any program or update.

Thinking about though, a System Restore only allows you to undo unwanted changes to the registry caused by software installation. How it would deal with an application that writes data to the boot sector of the harddrive is another question.

I made a disk to disk copy of my hard drive on an external drive and unistalled Flash 8 and the installer runs but then I get a messages saying, ‘you can only install one Adobe product at a time’.

Mike,
You have backed up your hard drive, yes?
Do you think your probems are in some way caused by the CS3 beta? You have uninstalled it from Control panel>Add/Remove etc? Have you tried the script at
