I’ve played with a few editors and am now getting familiar with Elements
6. It rates pretty well vs others as long as you download and use the
freeware mask add-on.
One thing I do find irritating is the length of time it takes to load an image. Is there any advantage in the speed area going from 6 to 7. Also, apart from being able to adjust the interface shade level (if that’s the correct term), is there any other worthwhile advantage.

I used Elements 6 for many months and never found the image loading times restrictive, certainly no longer than LR2 or Capture NX. Is the issue with your setup?

I now have PE7 and you would be hard pushed to tell the difference. I do find 7 more reliable as 6 often crashed with the run time error bug. Overall 7 seems a bit snappier but it could just be my system. Is the adjuster that important? I have not used it yet but possibly, maybe, but no deal breaker. There are some documented features that 7 has that 6 does not but nothing there that’s worth the upgrade in my humble opinion.

I do think it is a bit much to call it version 7 when the changes are more like version 6.4 or something similar.

Thanks. The image loading isn’t a big problem, about 10 secs, but psp and earlier version of PhotoPlus load almost instantaneously. I’ve had no stability problems. I don’t use the organizer.

Not sure if 6 does this because I have removed it but in 7 preferences you can alter some performance values, memory, cache etc. This might speed things up for you if it is there.

Those settings are there in PSE 6.

In a 4GB system running XP Pro with the the/3GB switch
enabled, PSE 6 does recognize that it has more than 2GB
available, but with 64 bit Vista it is still confined to the 2GB memory address allocation. Does anybody know if PSE 7
is enabled to use up to 4GB in 64 bit Vista?
