I have an HP with Windows XP service pack 2 OS. Exceeds all of the requirements to run CS3. Just purchased CS3. When I install the DVD, it will not launch. When I try and run setup from the Adobe CS3 folder, I get an error message as follows; Adobe CS3\setup.exe is not a valid win32 application. This DVD is marked Windows. So I’m dead in the water, can’t get out of the gate.
Anyone have some ideas ?

This DVD is marked Windows.

By any chance is it also marked Made in Singapore?

Perhaps it is… Just for info:
My installation disk is marked "made in the U.S.A". The properties of the setup file are:
Size: 2.56MB
Created Wednesday, March 21, 2007, 11:56.32 PM
File version: 1.0.1.35.0

This program did install Adobe Photoshop CS3 from the DVD.

If you have any burning software, they sometimes turn the DVD drive autoplay setting to OFF. Also, you might try clicking on the autoplay.exe file on the DVD to bring up the installation menu.

I have the exact issue. setup and autoplay both return the Adobe CS3\setup.exe is not a valid win32 application. This is NOT a bootleg copy in case you’re wondering. Any help is greatly appreciated.

sounds like a drive problem. try copying the photoshop folder to the hard drive and run setup from there. failing that you might have a bad disk. you’d have to contact adobe for help with that.

Thanks Dave for the suggestion. I copied setup to the desktop and attempted a start. It immediately slapped a GZ file type (file name AHMBED,size 4K) on the desktop. That’s it, nothing more. looking at properties AHMBED opens with Unknown application. Lots of help there. Don’t know where to go from here. I honestly don’t think the disc is bad but maybe.

Thanks for trying it assist!

Thanks Dave for the suggestion. I copied setup to the desktop

Dave suggested to copy the Photoshop folder to the harddisk, not just the setup.

ACTUALLY:

This Ahmbed file came WITH the file I downloaded here:

< http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?loc=en%5Fus& product=indesign>

The archive file, called

ADBEPHSPCS3_WWE.exe is 463 MB->

By running the EXE the installer package Extracts the CS3 Installer to where you point it on your hard drive:

Here is the TREE from where I installed it to- I dont know if your OSX has a Tree command like this, but Windows DOES:

C:\DOWNLOAD\Adobe CS3\Photoshop>tree /f
Folder PATH listing for volume VistS__t-PC
Volume serial number is 0015F688 88B7:8570
C:.
└───Adobe CS3
│ Ahmbed.gz
│ Setup.exe
│ WinBootstrapper.msi

SNIP<<<

├───payloads
└───resources
└───common
└───scripts
ContainerProxy.js
localization.js
silentWorkflow.js
utils.js

C:\DOWNLOAD\Adobe CS3\Photoshop>

Note that if I got this in a Windows version straight from ADOBE- And you guys have it in the MAC version…

And I know where i got it, I downloaded the TRIAL version of CS3 from Adobe. THIS FILE is part of the Adobe Package. DON’T KNOW what it is, but certainly, if you don’t like it, you can delete it, like I did, with no Ill effects.

If it IS a virus however, then someone at ADOBE put this thing right into the package.

IT IS NOT A CRACK. A Crack for CS3 is the entire Photoshop.exe file, 43 Megabytes- It is dropped into the Photoshop directory before initially running any part of CS3, then when Photosho.exe is run, it inserts a serial number and activates it, bypassing the flexLM licence manager.

THAT is how a Photochop crack works, one of the cracks I have seen- Others are simply Keygens, like CS2, you perform a Phone Activation, enter the Acvitation code into the keygen, and it spits out the answer code.

THIS little POS file however, is NOT a keygenm and it is NOT an exe that can be dropped into a folder, it is simply extra code left over from installing CS3, and Adobe made it.

By the way, this is the trial version opf CS3, love it… NO extra curricular viruses have shown up in my PC, Ahmbed or no Ahmbed.gz file

Excuse me: Just to clear this up, I must needs x-post this new info, originally posted in a MAC BBs where this whole ordeal has been xposted from HERE: (Mac or PC does nto matter, erroneus data MUST be refuted everywhere it shows up).

=====POST=====

I opened the alleged Ahmbed "VIRUS" file,

There is simply NOTHING in it but some references to PAYLOAD locations (IE: Places on your hard drive where your Adobe CS3 Install Files are located).

Here is ONE LINE from the Ahmbed file:

BEGIN – Updating Media Sources – BEGIN ——————– Updated source path: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\2ac78060bc5856b0c1cf873bb919b58

AS YOU CAN SEE: A VALID line in what amounts to an INI file locating the PAYLOAD files for future Adobe Updater Sessions.

I hope that in the future, people would CHECK THINGS OUT before posting a spew of erroneous data that has been cut and pasted all over the Abode areas of the internet- That I have to chase down to refute.

so like the original pirates are screwing up other pirates. damnit. but thats okay because i didnt even need photoshop cs3. i needed cs2 because it has imageready. so good luck you guys with your problem. as an ameteur hacker my advice is to search it on isohunt.com then download it with uTorrent but its illegal so dont do anything stupid that might get you arrested. im just a kid so they would go easy on me <nuclearpablo1> aka <[0$@M@!]>
