Equipment: Windows XP , Nikon coolscan V ED , photoshop elements 4.0. Conditions; Scanning slides on the coolscan with no special settings, saving files as JPEG excellent quality 26MB average. On hardrive.
Problem; After getting photos from hardrive and viewing them in the photo browser, about 80 percent of the thumbnails show up as a gray box with an exclamation point in it and a curled edge? I can click on them, view and edit them but will not show up as a photo thumbnail in the browser or slide show. Why do 20 percent of them show up just fine?
Observation; the only difference I can find is the editing size using the crop tool with the coolscan to cut off bad parts of the photos? Has nothing to do with file MB size, file type JPEG or TIFF. Only the photos that I crop even just a little show up in the browser as normal?
Question; what is the exclamation point signaling and how do I get rid of it.
