I do mean pertaining to Adobe’s copyrights in regards to Photoshop. Are we, the users, allowed to write about their program and include images such as screen captures? What can and cannot be visible in a screen capture? Do we have to ask for and be granted some sort of permission or license? Is there any sort of payment involved? Do we have to add a disclaimer for Adobe in the book?

If you use the word Photoshop, then you should have a note (probably on the copyright page) that the word is a trademark, registered to Adobe, and used with permission. (which you should get).

Only as above. Look in a few books at the bookstore and you will see sample text. I suspect Photoshop’s legal department have a boilerplate you can use. Adobe should be eager to see another book come on the market. It helps them sell.

I don’t even know that you would have to ask permission to use the word as long as you noted ownership of trademarks. might be worth asking a lawyer. they can’t stop you from writing anything you want. if i’ve read correctly about usage, that’s fair use under the copyright law.

I think all that goes back to they can SAY whatever they want, but what will hold up is the law. if what they say doesn’t agree with the law, the law still wins.
