There was a program called "Enhance", a graphics program produced by scientific types. It did things that Photoshop copied years later and still hasn’t caught up with, not because it couldn’t be done but probably because they can put out a bit at a time and charge for upgrades. The same is true of the Amiga computer that was way ahead of its time. We are
getting baby steps instead of the whole enchilada, which if delivered would require true innovation to be competitive and instead of being marketed we would be on the leading edge.

But, there’s a reason why developers call it the *bleeding* edge 😉
