Am not sure if this would be better done in Illustrator, but I do think it’s a Photoshop thing (I own both, just know the basics is all).

Looking to create type and give it that old rough newspaper look. Where you could see the dots making up the letters. Trying to give it that old look. Can’t seem to find the right filter.

So I thought I might come here, ask for some pointers?

Thanks ahead,

Sergio

Funny you mention that filter. It happens to be the one filter that makes no discernable change to my image whatsoever. I have played with the levels on it, and it does zilch.

Sure you’ve got the text layer selected?

Yes, it’s the only layer. Really, not any noticable change.

I would love to be able to create this , and I just can’t, you know what would be even better?

A type face that looks like a typeriter….with just that little spatteribg if ink around the type.

Make sense?

It won’t work on a live (editable) type layer. You must rasterize it first.

As far as I remember,in newspapers photos were composted of Halftone dots, but never type. which was set as solid.

EDIT: There are several fonts that look like typewriter letters and even some that show stressed or spattered type. Or rasterize a typewriter font like Courier and stress it manually.

Sergio,
Try changing text layer’s blending mode to "Dissolve"
