I once had the instructions to do the following but have misplaced the:

I need to take the text "08" (as in 2008)and put about 100 names inside the numbers. These names are from a spreadsheet and represent students in a class. So I need the number "0" filled with names and then the overflow filling the number "8"

Any techniques or ideas?

Two text layers one on top the other?
First layer holds the names, the top layer (transparent) has the "08".

no good- the text has to take on the exact shape of the shape- with the names flowing from the outline.

Then you need "text on a path" (absloute nightmare in PS!) Do a Google for "PS text on a path" tutorials.

if you have the suite, this task can be most efficiently accomplished in illustrator and then easily intergrated back into photoshop, certainly there are ways to do it in photoshop if you must, here’s a cs tutorial that should cover you since you did not say what version you were working with, but I’d use illustrator if it were me. http://graphicssoft.about.com/cs/photoshop/qt/cstextonapath. htm good luck
