If possible, could someone help me solve this quickly? We have only just recently purchased photoshop to use with the drawing tablet and we would hate to discover that it was all just money down the toilet.

if i were to close photoshop and reopen it later,

1) don’t close photoshop.

2) you could probably restart the pen driver (you can with a wacom)

what kind of tablet? you never said. make and model.

don’t you mean you just purchased CS3? CS2 is not sold any more it was discontinued when CS3 was released last April.

Buko, where does he say or imply that he’s just purchased CS2. He said Photoshop, which is the name of all the versions from 1.0 to CS3.

Well it could have something to do with the Title of the Thread and in post one he mentioned just purchasing it. Feeling rather like Sherlock Holmes I put both clues together an came up with my deduction.

If you feel I’m in error please explain why.

Yes, it is photoshop CS2, we got it as part of an upgrade package. The tablet is a CalComp DrawingBoard 3 version 10.05 Build 5.

Update: The pen works fine in ImageReady.

Update 2: If I restart the tablet while photoshop is open, the pen will then function as normal. Still, this is less than ideal and would appreciate a proper solution for this problem.

I remember lots of problems reported with CalComp tablets and Photoshop. Unresolved as I recall. Most people moved to Wacom.

Buko, good point. I didn’t focus on the title, so I didn’t put 2 and 2 together. I see where you’re coming from.

I believe I have resolved the problem myself. It seems tohave been a problem with teh default brushes. Upon selecting a different set of brushes, the pen tool works fine at all times. I then tested the basic brushes and again, works perfectly.

All in all, problem solved, thank you for your help 🙂
