I’m going to buy the Extended version of Photoshop CS3 but wonder if I can install it over Photoshop CS3 or will I need to uninstall/deactivate CS3 then reinstall with the new CS3 Extended license#?

TIA

Or perhaps one is better off waiting for CS4 Extended and simply upgrading to it from CS3? Cost wise that seems logical but I could use some of the features in the extended version now. Should have looked into it more closely before upgrading from CS2 to CS3. Live and learn. Any advice on how to upgrade effectively now from CS3 to CS3 Extended or if it’s possible would be appreciated however.

Knowing the flaky state of Adobe’s installers, I would definitely deactivate and uninstall the standard version before installing the extended.

Having said that, if you could live without the extended features until CS4 later this year you would certainly save some money!

Call customer service the difference is the serial number that unlocks the extended features.

Yes, but will that work retrospectively without messing up the Registry? I’d play it safe.

Thanks for this. Since we’ll likely get a new upgrade later this year or early next I’m leaning towards waiting. Besides. I got ahold of Adobe and they told me I’d have to pay the $349.00 to move from CS3 to CS3 Extended. Since I had already paid the $199.00 to upgrade from CS2 to cs3 I thought they might just accept the $149.00 difference. They won’t. One might have thought this would be good business for them but apparently not.

don, if it’s really important to you i’d try to call again and get another rep or a cust svc or sales manager. sometimes the answer varies from flunky to flunky. don’t know if it’ll do any good, but it couldn’t hurt to try.
