"Hanging" Issue

Every time I try to browse my F: or E: harddrive Photoshop 7.0 will simply hang and stall until I forcibly terminate it.

No other programs have this issue, and I can still browse folders inside those (F:\Publications\2003\, etc).

I did a small search and came up with nothing – perhaps someone has an answer to this that I didn’t stumble across?

Any help appreciated!

All folders and sub-directories are viewable, it’s only the root (E:, F:, etc) it seems to have problems with.

OS is Windows 2000, SP 4. Only network setup is just a LAN between several computers.

I have no idea what kind of files it hangs on …

No other applications (as viewed through Task manager) are running except for system applications.

PS7 with all updates available.

Anything else you think might be relevant to include?

have you tried to clear out the root to a temp folder and see if it works? if so, start moving files back a couple at a time ’til you find the culprit. my guess is you have a misnamed file (ie jpg really gif or something wierd like that, or something corrupt.)
