Hello all, Not exactly an expert here but I am trying to follow the instructions. I have cs2 and trying to open raw files. I have downloaded the update, as instructed, unzipped and placed in the file, again, as instructed. CS2 STILL says ‘can not open as is the wrong type of file’. I really want to get the grips with raw but can’t even get past the first step.

Thanks,

Lucy

Are you sure you have installed the correct version. The CS3 version of ACR does not work with CS2.

This is the link to the last version that was created for CS2

It should be installed in this folder on a standard windows installation.

Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS2/File Formats

If you already have the right file in the right place, it might mean your camera came is relatively new. Adobe stopped updating ACR for CS2 when CS3 came out. IF your camera came out after that then ACR for CS2 wont open it.

You could use the Adobe DNG converter or get a third party RAW Converter. Some of the newer versions of Elements also support the new version of ACR
