hi guys, was wondering if anyone experienced with photoshop could give me some advice. im not sure if this post is in the correct place << apologies if not.

ive done a degree in multimedia technology and specalised in image engineering (mainly working with photoshop) well the problem i have is that ive only worked with decent res pictures in photoshop, im looking for advice weather photoshop would be decent enough to convince work tomove to it for enhancement on very poor images, (mainly CCTV). i know if the res isnt good enough there isnt much that can be done but, anything to improve image quality would be great, were currently using enhancement software from a dutch company called ‘Imix’ the software they make is called ‘Impress’. does anyone know if photoshop cs3 would have advantages over impress for very low res pictures, and any reccomendations that i could look at for plugins.
thanks for any help avaliable

I don’t know anything about Impress. If it’s made specifically to work with low-rez images that might be your best bet for working with CCTV source material.

That said, Photoshop is the most sophisticated image-processing software I’m aware of that’s publicly available. I’m sure the NSA has apps even more powerful (though I’m not sure how). They probably don’t have CSI Photoshop but still have image processing algorithms much more advanced in some ways.

To compare Impress and Photoshop you just need to download the 30-day trial of Photoshop. Do whatever processing you normally do using both programs. Whichever does it better or faster is the winner!

There is a program called VirtualDub that you can find on the Internet that has filters that can be used to clean up video.
