Hi,

I am new to the forum and I am thinking about getting a new lap top with Windows Vista. And I really like Photoshop 7.0, that is the only photoshop that I have worked with in the pass and I was thinking about buying photoshop 7.0, CS, or CS2. My questions is do you think that this programs (being the older versions) run on Windows Vista?????

MacBook Pro 16” Mockups 🔥

– in 4 materials (clay versions included)

– 12 scenes

– 48 MacBook Pro 16″ mockups

– 6000 x 4500 px

Millicent:

Only CS2 or CS3 is available for legitimate sale, you would be hard-pressed to find a CS2 kicking around even at that.

Only CS3 is guaranteed to work under Vista, although I run CS2 under Vista 64-bit without a problem.

And please do not come back and ask for comments on the legitimacy of E-bay or other such sales.

I was thinking about buying from ebay but I am a student so I was thinking about buying from my school’s bookstore. They give discounts. Thanks for your help.

If you’re a student then by all means buy CS3 using your academic eligibility. It’s a steal.

I thought the stuff from ebay was usually "a steal"… literally… 🙂

It is…from the seller’s prospective. <g>

I can get CS3 from my school for about $300. At some schools you get a super special discount and can get it for about $178!!!!!!

i’ve never heard of a "super special discount" and i’d be a bit leary of someplace offering it.

here’s adobe’s edu pricing:

photoshop extended goes for 300 bux.

Well my school goes through journeyed.com/campusestore.com, that price of $178 is only for certain schools.

but if adobe doesn’t sell it that cheaply where do you suppose those "certain schools" get it?

do not know. i trust the website. I go to a top-notch university in st.louis, missouri and I am sure that they would not support a company that steals or anything like that. to get photoshop CS3 from my school I will have to pay about $300 bucks. I do not go to the schools that are selling it for about $178.

maybe the $178 verison is for cs3 standard vs the 299 for the extended version? i dunno.

Penn State University sells C3 upgrades for $179. There is nothing to stop a school from underwriting part of the cost for the students. Or from making special deals on software. We have one with Microsoft and can get Office, full package for $50 but it’s not for the pubic.

C3 upgrades for $179.

that’s the standard price. there are no educational version upgrades though. edu packages are all "full versions".

There is nothing to stop a school from underwriting part of the cost for the students.

that’s true, i guess.

Hi – I am using CS in Windows XP Pro. Under the HELP pull down menu, the first choice is NEW (to open a new Photoshop work space). This, in turn, opens a window in which there are choices for what kind of work space you want. These choices are "Custom", "Clipboard","8in x 10.5 in", "Default Photoshop size" and so on….. The "Clipboard" choice allows you to paste an image stored in the clipboard, such as a print screen image of whatever you had on the screen when you pressed the print screen button. All of a sudden mt "Clipboard" choice has greyed out.
Is there a way to get the "Clipboard" operational again? This may have happened when I had to choose a different color profile. Thanks for any help on this issue

John: You should start a new thread, but the answer is that there is nothing on the clipboard.

Awe – Thanks for the clue. Of course, I’m doing (I think) what I have always done; namely put what I want on the screen, press "Print Screen", and after launching a page from the "ClipBoard" choice in the "New" box in the "File" pull down menu, with a Ctrl V transfer whatever was on the screen to Photoshop.
My PhotoShop CS continues to behave as previously described. Launching MS Word revealed that after pressing the PS key, "Paste" and "Paste As.." became available, but I was not able to get an image on a page. Actually, Macromedia FreeHand did allow the screen image to be imported.
How could CS think there was nothing in the clipboard after I pressed the PS key? I remain confused and CS refuses to enable the clipboard.
Also, I don’t know what you mean by "start a new thread". I have relaunched PhotoShop and pressed the PS key many times.

Also, I don’t know what you mean by "start a new thread".

You should not just post your question on a clipboard problem into a forum thread on the subject of Photoshop running on Vista.

If you don’t find an existing thread on the clipboard subject, start a new one by clicking on "Add Topic".

Drat! I found the problem, so my apologies for bothering anybody with this problem. I restarted the computer and now the "ClipBoard" is enabled after pressing the "PrintScreen" key.
Evidently a file or .dll or something was trashed; perhaps a process did not complete properly; whatever
Again, sorry for wasting your time with this (in the end) trivial issue, and thanks for the guidance.

John: Instead of using ‘Print Screen’, if you are on Vista use the ‘Snipping Tool’ under Accessories, nice feature.
