You have to unzip then first. Zip files are compressed archives, not Fonts. The fonts are "inside".

Then Install them in the Fonts folder, not just copy them into it.

What OS?

If you have XP…

Start->Help and Support
Search for: add new font
Pick the task: Add a new font to your computer
And follow step-by-step the directions

If you want to learn more about the different kinds and features of fonts, the help file in PS has several pages talking about fonts (unfortunately little about how to install them I guess they leave that up to the OS).

first unzip the fonts to a temporary folder.

then do start> settings> control panel> fonts. in the font applet select File> add new fonts. choose the box copy fonts to fonts folder, if that’s what you wish to do (probably a good idea, unless you plan to leave them where they are forever.).

I find that having a separate font partition is a good idea, that way you don’t lose your fonts in the event of a complete meltdown. When you install a new font, just de-select the ‘copy fonts’ and leave them where they are. Having a separate partition is also a good idea because you can de-frag once and your fonts will always be in the same place and it is highly unlikely that a good font will get corrupted.

I’ve been telling people to do this for over a decade now and no one is listening. It makes a big difference. Just think how often you use fonts during your computer uptime, show them a little respect.

I have over 2800+ fonts active and it has no impact on my system whatsoever, but then again, I run a multi-proc system with maxed RAM & multiple HDs as JBOD.

Actually, I’m doing the same thing here.

I just keep a copy of all my fonts on another drive.

(I don’t like partitions!)

Oh, the fonts are on a separate drive in their own partition called, strangely enough, ‘Fonts’.

I have separate folders for Adobe, Corel, Clients, etc. so when I need ‘Bloody’, I know where to find it, in this case under ‘Clients’ because it is for a specific client.

(I don’t like partitions!) Ya, ya, most commies don’t.

So … that would be a "bloody" client?
