I have used this program for years to edit photos before uploading them to my web-site. I have always used the "Free Transform" option to change photo sizing, until today.

Today I went to edit a photo, and the "Free Transform" option (under the "edit" pull down menu) is GONE!

The option is not grayed out (meaning that it is not usable). It is simply gone from the pull down down menu.

I don’t know if I accidentally changed an important setting, or if I’m doing something wrong, or if the software has a glitch.

If anyone is knowledgeable or experienced with this matter, I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

Ron…

Is your image in 16 bit-per-channel mode?

Try 8 bpc.

ALSO!
It’s never a good idea to post your email address in forums like this one. These threads get mirrored all over the place and your email address is now ripe for harvesting by spiders looking to collect addresses for spammers.

Thus, spam continues to propagate.

Better you should post it in something like the following format:REMOVE_THISDoctorRon3 [at] comcast [dot] netREMOVE_THISI’ll see if I can get a Host to remove it.

Thanks for the tip on not posting my e-mail. I would appreciate it if you can get the host to remove it.

I do not know how to tell if my images are in 8 bit-per-channel or 16 bit-per-channel mode. Can you tell me how to figure that out?

But, as an aside. I haven’t changed any properties on older photos that i used to be able to use the "Free Transform" function on … and now they don’t work either. that leads me to believe it is not in the image itself, but rather in the software.

Any help?

Photoshop 6 was a long time ago so I don’t remember. Did you have to have an active selection for Free Transform to work?

You can see if the file is 16 bits per cannel in Image>Mode.

Anyway, if that doesn’t help….

Trash/reset Preferences as per the FAQs.

Also, update to 6.0.1.
