slow tool response

I’m wondering if anyone experiences the same problem I am with photoshop CS.

The cursor is very slow to respond when it’s supposed to change from one thing to another. Say I’m using a brush tool, and I move the mouse into the toolbox, or up to the menu bar, it stays as a circle, and often doesn’t change into the pointer until I click something. The same the other way round: I click a tool with the pointer, and move the mouse into the image, and it stays as a pointer. Sometimes it just vanishes when over the scroll bars. I can click and drag the scroll bars to move the image, but the cursor is gone the whole time I do it.

My system is up to date, a P4 with 1GB ram and a scratch disk for PS, and it happens with normal sized files.

Does anyone know what’s going on??!!

Sounds like an image/screen writing problem which would your graphics card. You don’t mention what you’re using. Have you got the latest drivers for it?

That’s a relatively common problem with buggy video drivers – check the video card manufacturer’s site for updates.
