Why not buy Photoshop Elements (5 or 6) which supports RAW and is much cheaper. You can then continue to use Photoshop 7.

Technically Donald is right and wrong. Photoshop 7 did not come with Adobe Camera Raw. At that time is was a separate purchase from Adobe. Starting with CS however they started including it with Photoshop. Now you only have
a couple of options.
1. If you can find the old plug-in and if it supports the DNG format you could use the old plug-in with the latest DNG converter software from Adobe
(it is free on their site) and convert your raw files to DNG and then open them with the old plug-in (again if it supports DNG, I don’t think it does I
think DNG started around the time of Photoshop CS). Also, good luck finding
the old plug-in.
2. Upgrade to Photoshop CS or Photoshop CS2 and go the DNG converter route in option 1. If you can find a legitimate copy used of CS or CS2 you are also set.
3. Upgrade from 7 to CS3 and reap the benefits. This isn’t a free or cheap option. Also, keep in mind that Photoshop 7.0 is the last version of Photoshop that can qualify for the upgrade. If you wait until CS4 you won’t
be able to upgrade with version 7.
My opinion is with Donald. Upgrade to CS3 and get on with it. Less headache
that way.
