What tool do you use to draw in photoshop? I need to touch up a pic and I wanted to darken the lines of the pic (it’s a sketch), but I wasn’t sure what tool to use. I’m still not very familiar with photoshop, not at certain capacities.

Thanks!

If you just want to darken existing lines try Levels (on a duplicate layer).

More info needed (and maybe a picture).

Brush creates a spray paint kind of effect when I use it. Pencil creates straight lines when I use it. Am I missing something?

I’ll check my manual about levels.

Thanks for being serious about this. I know this is a dumb question. I guess brush is what I want to use (and have used), but I don’t care for the faded spray paint look it can create.

I just got a wacom tablet and this will be my first experience using it. I’m sure the results (with Brush) will be better than using the mouse.

Sorry for the dumb question.

I found a couple of great sites with tutorials on photoshop. Thanks for the help guys. Maybe I won’t have to ask any dumb questions any time soon. I doubt it…. LOL

If the Brush is producing a spray paint effect you probably have it set to Dissolve in the Options Bar. Not sure what the issue is with the Pencil. Are you holding down Shift or something? Or using the Line tool?

Another option is to use the dodge and burn tools just drag the brush over the lines and they will lighten or darken respectively.
Its a good idea to do something like this on a copy, then you can try over and over until you are satisfied.
