My school is now offering the student version of CS3 Extended. Is there any difference at all in the student version versus a full retail version? Any help is appreciated!!!!!!

No. No difference; no limitations.

If history is any indicator, the educational version should be exactly the same as the commercial version.http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?exter nalId=kb402371 < http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb 402371>
"Many Adobe products have versions created especially for the Education market. The Education versions of Adobe products are fully functional and identical to the retail versions, although there might be differences in packaging or marketing."

"For example, sometimes retail products include promotional software (such as free fonts or clip art) not included with the Education version. Additionally, because Education products are already discounted, they may not qualify for other pricing discounts offered to non-Education customers."Oh, and before I forget:

Thanks guys! I looked online as well but couldn’t find anything stating there was a difference. I figured if I am dropping this much cash I want to make sure!!! Gonna buy a copy then!! Can’t wait to see the difference between CS3 and Photoshop Elements that I am using currently.

There is a difference, its on the splash screen. It says educational version or student version.

Not on my copy. Nor on the About Photoshop screen either. As well, in spite of what Adobe says as per Phos’s message, I have also gotten the free fonts as a registration bonus (when they are available). These can be a $200+ value alone. I got a bit of clip art, and some videos from Linda.com with the last version … although there might be "more" bonus features for the regular package.

The biggest benefits of the Adobe educational rules are: a) you can do commercial work with the package, which most companies will not allow, and b) you can upgrade the software, which gets you the full non-educational license.

A note on the allowance of commercial use. That’s true in North America but not in every market in the world.

I just checked. Some of my CS2 apps say Educational version some don’t.

The Upgrade from the Education Version is a regular version.
