THis is so bizarre – but I can not for the life of me figure out how to draw a curved line with the pen tool. I can draw a path and a closed line but no single stroked line (like in illustrator)And I can do it in illustrator but I bneed to highlight roads on an aerial that I’m already working on in Photoshop. Somebody help me, please!

I’m no line expert, but here’s what I do.

Click on the line shape tool, make sure it says new shape layer in the top. Draw your line. It will have a "top" and a "bottom" line being filled in between.

Click on the Add Anchor Point tool. Click on a point at the "top" of your line, and then again at the "bottom" of your line. When your cursor changes to a hollow arrow as you are close to the point you just added, click that point, and SHIFT click the point above it. Then you can curve it.

You can also use the Direct Selection Tool to draw a box around and thus select the two points you just added and then drag them to curve your line.
