Saving a tiff to png…why does it force me to save as a copy??

Just as the subject line says.

When I save a tiff as a png, it forcefully inserts "copy" into my file name. Why is this, and can I turn that off?

There was a similar thread on "saves as copy" in the last 2 weeks. Try a search or scan last few pages for similar question.

My immediate first thought is that the original file has some property not supported in the target format?
