When using any shortcut with A-Z only or spacebar, they work. When using extended characters such as [ and ] for brush size…doesn’t work. Arrow keys for nudging doesn’t work. Ctrl+C works, but Ctrl click on a layer doesn’t make a selection, but Ctrl click on a channel does. This is a copy of Photoshop just installed at work. They ONLY buy legit copies.

When I remap the [ it shows up as Û. And ] shows up as Ý. Language is set to US English. Keyboard is set to US English. Using CS2 on XP.

Read many posts, no solutions, yet.

Thanks!!!

known issue. probably a pirate copy. check with adobe to be sure (give them your serial, they’ll tell you). if it is, pursue it with the seller.

I’ll check with Adobe, but this is a large company and they are sticklers about being legit. I’ll post again when I find the answer.

OK…I got the answer from Adobe…the serial number is legit.

But, we found on the label that it is a copy from Singapore. Would that cause a problem with my settings set to US English? I couldn’t find Singapore to add in the Regional and Language Options. Any suggestions or am I stuck?

But, we found on the label that it is a copy from Singapore.

again, that’s very weird because that’s another one of the signs of this high quality pirate stuff that’s going around. apparently someone ripped the stuff right from the singapore factory stock and copied it. adobe telling you (via phone call? to a person? i believe the app is hacked to "activate" but that’s part of the problem with the keys not working right) that it’s legit makes it stranger because now we have a mix of signals. on the one hand it’s a singapore copy that the shortcut keys don’t work on, but adobe tells you it’s ok.

I think you need to get another copy of the app. if it’s a large company, maybe you guys have another disk lying around? (hopefully one that doesn’t have the made in singapore on it?)

Yep. That’s weird. We have some new copies being purchased…NOT FROM SINGAPORE. We’re going to switch out copies when they arrive. IF this is a case of a pirated copy…it is very scary that a large corporation can unknowingly fall prey to this, too.

Thanks for your help.

.it is very scary that a large corporation can unknowingly fall prey to this, too.

apparently the pirates of this particular copy made the replicas so good (holograms on discs, full color manuals and shrink wrapped boxes) that many normal vendors are falling for them and they’re getting into the regular supply chain.

for you guys, if you’re sure the serial # is ok, and you have non-singapore discs in house, i’d uninstall your current version and reinstall from a non-singapore disc usning the serial # your’re using now.

Thanks for your help.

no problem! 🙂
