Strange Displacement Filter results

I’m using a displacement map to try to distort an image in photoshop cs3 but am getting some pretty strange results. I’ve never seen this before. Was hoping someone could tell me what’s going on.

As you can see this image didn’t displace as expected and it’s put some wording over my graphic.

Ok, never mind. I figured it out. Apparently you have to have Maximize PSD and PSB file Compatibility checked to "always" or "ask" in the File Handling under Preferences before you save your image you are planning on using as a displacement map.

Rookie mistake. Hope this helps someone else in the future.
