Why and how can I change my CS3 photoshop always opening with the first image I worked with after installation, months ago. Otherwise opening and closeing works fine. But every time I initiate the application, that first image opens.
Thank you.

Believe that is a Windows thing.

Not really. (And by not really I mean not in the slightest!)

could be you have a file name in the shortcut (weird but hey, it’s not my machine and it IS an explaination!)

check by right clicking the icon you use to open photoshop, select properties, and look in target. it should say something like:

"D:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Photoshop.exe"

if your says something like:

"D:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Photoshop.exe" "somefile.psd"

delete the file name part.

You can check Dave’s theory by opening Photoshop with a double click on the Photoshop.exe file in Explorer. See what happens then.

You guys are good!
If I open cs3-photoshop from the application list in windows (from start in the lower left corner), the application only opens, without an image.
If I open the application from the desltop icon, the application opens with the image I first worked on when I installed the application.
I don’t see mention of the jpg anywhere in properties of the icon. I tried to duplicate by loading a different image and looking for a way to bookmark it to the desktop with the new image while in photoshop.
I am real confused how this happened and wonder if it is an anomaly of installation? Thanks for ideas,
Fred

To avoid any further problems I would simply ditch the desktop icon and make a new one. The quickest way is to right-mouse drag the Photoshop .exe file to the desktop and choose "Create Shortcut…"

Or just trash the Shortcut and make a new one from the .exe file in the Program folder.

O.K.
Thanks to all your nudging and thinking about that I had no target in the properties. What I did, I saved the image I was working on as adobe photoshop document, and gave it the location as the desktop. So what I saw on the desktop was a PSD image in the image form of the photoshop icon. duhhh
thanks to all
