Hi all

I am new to photoshop. I have recently purchased Photoshop CS3 and i am looking at some online tutorials to learn photoshop.

There are a few dialogs that look a little different between CS3 and the ones shown on the tutorials.

For example in the file open dialog, i dont get to see the Green, Amber and Red icons on the top of the document.

Also when i am trying to apply a displacement filter, i navigate to the Presets folder –> textures; the files are showing as icons, i am not able to see the preview of the images (the displacement maps are *.psd files).

Is there any setting or preference i need to change in photoshop or CS3 has changed these options the way it looks.

Which OS are you using?

I am using Windows Vista. Do you think that is the cause of me not being able to preview the Displacement Maps (when i am trying to apply textures as displacement filters)

For several years it has been impossible to view PSD thumbnails in Windows Explorer or dialogs. Adobe blames MS and MS blames Adobe.

If you single click on a PSD in the open dialog you will see a preview at the bottom.
