I’m obviously missing something. How do I automate opening a series of photos in Camera RAW, setting exposure and temperature and then saving as a tif? Everything I’ve tried–actions, droplets, scripts–opens the images then saves them but the altered temperature and exposure are not applied to the newly saved files (except in the case of the script where the first image is properly adjusted but none of the rest)

You might be able to accomplish all of this in camera raw (acr). Open the selected images in acr. Apply your temperature and exposure adjustments to the files — one by one, by groups or to all (select all). If you are applying the same temperature and exposure values to all of the files, in acr Select All then enter the desired values, which will be applied to all of the selected files. Then click Save Files. In the Save dialog you’ll select location for saved files, file format (tiff) and compression options. Then click Save.

After saving has completed, from acr you can choose to apply the temperature and exposure changes to the source file images by clicking Done, or discard them by clicking Cancel.

You might get more discussion in the Camera Raw forum.

When I try image processor, I check "Open first image to apply settings" It opens, I set color temp and adjust exposure in ACR dialogue and save as tif. It then appears to process the rest of the files in the folder–and it does create tif files but only the first once has the ACR adjustments.

I do that all the time in ACR.

Select your files in Bridge. Open in ACR. Select All, then adjust the most critical frame.

If you pick other than the first image, you have to Select All again.

Try saving a preset with your desired settings and applying that in your action.
