I’ve got a problem with the Polar Coordinates filter that probably can’t be fixed, but I thought I’d still ask…

I’m doing some graphics work that requires converting an image from polar to rectangular, then back to polar again. It *should* go back to the original image, but in practice, there’s a bit of overlap, resulting in a bit of the image being lost.

Does anyone know of a way to get round this? (I use PS6, BTW).

Thanks in advance

Ken

Increasing the size of the canvas seems to help a little, for instance by factor 1.5 in both directions.

I am familiar with coordinate systems, but I don’t understand the meaning of Photoshop’s transforms. I had just tested Cartesian –> Polar followed by Polar –> Cartesian.

Gernots suggestion of increasing the canvas size is good, plus you can do an image resize to increase the number of pixels, to help retain the original image.
