Step 3 doesnt work for me. After step 2 I simply have a black line which i have drawn using the freeform pen tool

I have no anchor points at all.

Anyone know of a better tutorial?. I am looking for a good tutorial on drawing smooth lines.

Mike,

It doesn’t work for me either.
Try using the Direct selection tool (A on the KB) on the line you have created.
This should show you the Bezier points.
You will then need to right click on the path and either Stroke the path; or Make a Selection and then Edit>Stroke.

ok ive got my shape with all the anchor points (used freeform pen tool then direct selection tool to smooth out) but I cant see a way to stroke the shape i’ve drawn.

Edit>Stroke is grayed out

When i go to paths the bottom icons are grayed out as well. I can only create new path or delete path.

Im using PS7

Any ideas?

Mike,

Is "stroke path" not an option when you right click on the shape you have drawn.
Edit>Stroke will be grayed out until you "make selection" again by right clicking on shape.

Mike,

I’m not seeing what you see, when I try and do what you are doing all options are available except clipping mask. (Using CS2&3) I’m sure it should be the same in PS7.
May seem a strange request but try deleting your prefs file. Hold down ctrl+alt+shift keys whilst starting PS.
If you get the timing right you will be asked if you want to delete the file.
You do, a new one is created at startup.
You must see the dialogue box to ensure success with teh deletion. It’s amazing the amount of differing problems a corrupt prefs file can cause.
