CS3 is a great piece of software (as you probably know). I did get the extended version for its video application but, as I said, there are no books written specifically for the video capabilities.
When considering a video NLE, I was aiming for Premiere when I saw Sony Vegas demoed. After the demo, I was hooked on Vegas. It is a great product. I have upgraded many times from version 5 to the current version 8. Good luck.
