how do you rotate text without distortion – cs3 photoshop?

am using layers, one layer is a text layer, i want to rotate that, say 8º but without distortion in the letters.

it has to be easy and it has to be an available feature (surely i am not the only person in the world that wants to do this) but i can not figure it out or google the answer.

thank you.

Edit > Transform > Rotate (or Ctrl T) then rotate or put degrees in toolbar at top?

Also if you draw a path then hover over it with the text tool the text will attach to the path.

Why do you think the text is distorted?

BUKO – because the rotated text using transform tool does not leave text in same alignment as when typed horizontally or transformed 90º – try it and see.

johntolliday – what do you mean ‘draw a path’?

the only way i can see to do this is make a text to an image, rotate it outside of photoshop, then copy-paste as a layer back into original psd file. surely there is another way.

ok, duh, i got it. under adobe help, type, scaling and rotating type, the key is selecting the layer with the type to rotate then go to menu to apply transform and transformed type stays in line. if you box the type to be rotated with rectangle tool then apply transform to that boxed area it results in distorted type. when you choose the layer then go to menu to transform a box is automatically drawn around the type and that box has the handles to rotate, push, pull, whatever free transform. thanks everyone for responding.

You can draw a path with the Pen tool set to Paths, just try clicking a few times then select the Text tool and hover over the line (path) and the text should follow the path.

I don’t think that was the question.

Your answer is confusing (unless that’s what he really wanted).

you know what, transform of text leaves text wavy.

pen path, don’t get it – have to study – new to me. if it really allows transform of text and text stays perfectly in alignment at any angle then i will study it.

for everyone that says transform text, no problem, i don’t see it – text gets distorted. i will love to see a text piece so rotated – any examples out there? tomorrow i will upload a rotated text to show what i mean how it leaves it wavy.

The top one is transformed text NOT written in a box. The bottom is attached to a path drawn with four clicks of the pen tool.
