Hello! I’ve been using CS3 10.0.0.1 on Windows XP SP2 for quite some time. Until recently when I would bring up the color picker it looked like the picture in Adobe Color Picker overview in Photoshop Help. However, for the last couple of days the display in the Color Field (G) and in the Color Slider (H) have been swapped. The colors are in the square box and the color-to-black is in the slider box.

The title bar of the Color Picker still says "Color Picker (Foreground Color)", so I don’t think I’ve chosen an alternative color picker. I must have fat-fingered something and have been going nuts trying to get it back the way is was. I would sure appreciate some kind soul revealing the secret!

Thanks, – Dave

Have you got the "H" radio button selected?

If that doesn’t fix it, try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.

<http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.ef4a07f/1>

You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.

This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.

A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

The orientation of the picker’s visual interface depends on which channel you have clicked on. For example, clicking on B of HSB causes the vertical slider to control brightness (color to black), and the square to control saturation and hue (colors).
