Help! On the advise of a programmer friend I just used ‘move’ to move all my photos from my c: to my d: drive. I just moved all the adobe files over. Now I can view the thumbnails but when I click on a photo it cannot find the original. I try reconnect but it does not find anything. I have tried searching but also not found anything. Please can anyone help?

That sounds a bit ominous – you do mean your image files? I think you need to explain in more detail what you did, and what the folder structure is (was) for those image files. Tell us exactly what folders you moved.

Anyway, those thumbnails are just cached (low-resolution representations) so they would still be there (I think). If you’re using Bridge, you’ll need to redirect it to the new location and let it make new thumbnails.

It’s good advice you got, by the way, keeping your images safe in case of a total system crash.

I just selected the adobe subfolder(containing subfolder digital camera) in my pictures and then clicked move. I selected the d drive as my location. there does seem to be a few photos in the new folder but not anything like the full amount.

If that’s "my pictures" inside "My Documents" I don’t see any problems with that. I was just a bit confused by the adobe designation, thinking for a second you could be talking about actual program files.

Is there anything still left in the old location?

It looks as if a lot of your pictures got saved in a different location.

Do a search for *.jpg and *.jpeg.

That should find them.

Thanks for your suggestions. I have run the searches but none of the unconnected photos can be found. Any ideas on how to recover them?

I f you can’t find them you can’t recover them. (Unless they are still in the bin.)
