I always save the image to the desktop. That way it’s scanned before it’s opened.

Do you drag the image onto Photoshop’s iconon your desktop, or in the system tray? Which version of Photoshop?

I’m using PS CS3 and the latest version of Mozilla.
Step by step description:
1. Open Photoshop.
2. Using Mozilla open a page with an image.
3. In Mozilla, click and drag the image and drop it on the empty space of the Photoshop application window, not in existing document window. If Photoshop window or part of it is not visible on the screen, first drag without dropping the image over the Photoshop button on the Task bar to bring Photoshop window in front, and then drop in the Photoshop window.
On XP this will create a new document window with the size and color mode of the dropped image. On Vista this doesn’t work anymore. I can drop it in an open window but this takes a lot of additional steps and the image may be smaller or larger than the window.
Could be Vista’s UAC getting in your way. Dunno if there’s any way to work around that.
Besides that, you might want to think about updating by downloading and installing the latest version of Firefox and Thunderbird. The Mozilla Suite is a bit outdated.
Well, I’m using Vista with the UAC turned off.
And when I said Mozilla I actually meant that I have the latest version of Mozilla Firefox, I forgot that Mozilla encompasses more products. I have to check Thunderbird. What is it? A different web browser?

Don’t know what to tell you, then. The only thing I can think of is to hope for a response from someone here who is using a similar set-up. If they can do what you’re after, then you’ll have to figure out where the differences are between their set-up and yours.

The devil is in the details, and the details are important when asking for help. That would be like referring to Photoshop, but calling it merely "Adobe", as in this commonly joked about thread title:"HELLLPPPP!!! MY ADOBE IS BROKE!!!!"
Thunderbird is Mozilla.org’s free email application. If you’ve ever actually used the full Mozilla suite, you’ll understand it right away, because that’s where it came from, (and before that, it came from the Netscape application).
Thanks for trying to help dots, actually I also posted in the Mozilla forums and someone replied that it is a known issue with the Firefox on Vista. I guess they will try to fix it in the next update/upgrade.
Well, although I don’t use that method it worked for me by dragging the file on to the PS button in the task bar first and in the same motion moving the cursor over the Photoshop workspace.
John, are saying that you can do on your computer what I can’t on mine? I’m using Vista Ultimate Service Pack1, Photoshop CS3 Extended 10.0.1, and Firefox 3.0.1. and I just check for the latest updates available and it reported that my system and programs are up to date.
Is your set up different than mine?
The only difference is that I didn’t fall for that "Extended" sales gimmick (but the basic programs are identical anyway). Otherwise the same.

As I said before, I advocate right-click and "Save Image as…".
I don’t use FireFox much, but the same thing happens on my system. Photoshop CS3, Vista Ultimate – no SP1, FireFox 3.0.
I did notice that you can drag an image from FireFox onto an existing image and you can copy and paste the image into photoshop.

That’s the strangest behavior that I would imagine. Are you using the default vista aero theme or you have turned down or using custom theme and visual effects?

I don’t understand what you mean. If you are concerned about viruses, in my understanding copying and opening a file from the internet which is what "Save image as" does, is less safe than coping and pasting pixels. Copying and pasting pixels is the same as coping and pasting text from your web browser, it can’t execute hidden code. If that was possible everybody will get viruses at the moment text or pixels are displayed on your browser.

I was thinking of having a saved copy to fall back on, among other things.
