NUVTwain.dll is missing

I use Windows XP and Photoshop CS.

I recently launched Photoshop CS and received an error message that the NUVTwain.dll could not be found and that reinstalling the software might resolve the problem. I did, and it didn’t. However, once I manage to get rid of the message I seem to be able to use Photoshop as normal.

Then I reinstalled my scanner software and drivers and received the same error message. When I try to scan, the message pops up again. And again when I get rid of the message I can scan a document into Photoshop.

Can anyone tell me why I lost this dll, what it does and how I can reinstall it?

A quick google reveals that others are having the same problem.

One suggestion is to uninstall everything, then reinstall Photoshop first and scanner software second (but it seems to me that’s what you did):
