I have the same problem and say with absolute certainty that it’s nothing to do with the Caps Lock key or Precise Cursors. The cursor disappears completely no matter whether I’m using a precise cursor or brush size cursor.

It reappears when you switch to the arrow tool.

The only way I’ve found to fix it is to quit photoshop and open it again. Quite annoying when you’ve got many files open!

CS2 or 3?

What exact version of PS, OS and mouse software?

I’ve since switched to XP 64bit and haven’t had the problem since. This suggests to me that it is probably related to video card drivers. It could still be related to Adobe because it could be the way the interface together, but it’s unlikely.
My guess is Nvidia’s mistake.

I’m using the Quadro FX 3450 right now. My coworker who is having the same problem also has the 3450. I’ll be getting the 4600 soon (it’s needed for Autodesk Showcase) and we’ll see if there is any difference.

Also, this is for CS2 And CS3 both.
Oh, great idea about the mouse software. That definitely also changed when switching to 64bit, not just the video card. My coworker, still on 32bit Does have an MS intellimouse. I had him uninstall the drivers just to test it out. We’ll see if that helps. I just have the standard HID-compliant mouse driver right now. It’s just a standard optical Dell mouse (I think it’s actually logitech, but not sure).
