I bought the PS CS3 Extended Student Edition and I have registered on the Adobe website to get my serial number which all went fine, but when I put the Disc in the drive, it does not appear on My Computer,Desk Top for me to open and upload photoshop to my computer! I have put the disc into another hard drive and attached it to my monitor but still nothing comes up! I have tried it on a completely different computer and it appears then, just not on mine! My computer seems to be working fine as I am able to upload other discs to it!

Please can anyone help or has anyone had this problem in the past?

Thanks
Hayley

The idea that you got a serial number form the Adobe web site makes this sound very bizarre. Serial numbers come with the media (your disc).

Does your computer have a DVD-ROM drive or just a CD-ROM drive?

Use Windows Explorer and go directly to the disc

Double-Click on SETUP.EXE

I work at a University so have purchased the Education version of several programs (some Adobe) and I also have never seen one, from any company, were I bought the media (CD or DVD) and then had to go to the company to register to get a serial number

The serial number (install key) has always come on a sticker on the disc case

Thanks for your messages. I had to register my student ID on the Adobe website to prove I am a student and then they sent me an email with my serial number! My computer says it has a DVD/CD-RW Drive! I will try the above and hope it works!

Thanks again H x

John and Jim…the OP is using a student edition and that is in fact how it works.

When did this start? 3.3? I’ve been a regular educational buyer. The most recent we have is CS3.0 (the suite) and that came with the serial. Maybe it just depends on the educational vendor.

There’s a difference between student and academic (educational) versions. This is one of them.

The other is that student versions can’t be used for commercial work but costs even less than the academic version which can be. Sorry, but I don’t know how long this program has been in effect.

It looks like this came around March 15, 2008 when Adobe began to allow educational institutions to market licenses from their own volume license (which is why commercial work is precluded). Very nifty. Thanks for the heads up.

While the current student version is not licensed for commercial work, it looks like a student can upgrade with a regular commercial upgrade later.
