Call Adobe and have your proof of purchase handy.

Pierre,
Have you Extracted the file BEOFRE you clicked on the setup file? It’s been a long time, since I installed the 7.0.1 update, and also never on XP, but it sounds like you are trying to install from an archived file.
Good luck,
Hunt
well i try to extract also and after the setup start … i see the 99% but disapear and nothing happen

Thanks
Pierre,
I’m wondering if you do not have a utility to un-ZIP the update file. What format is that file? I’ll crank up my older system, with ver 7.0.1 on it, and see if I still have the update file on it, but cannot until Tuesday of next week – sorry.
If it is a ZIP file, do you have WinZIP, or other ZIP utility? If so, then highlight the file and choose Extract, and check Extract with Folder Structure (or whatever the exact syntax is), into a Temp folder. Once done, go to that folder and find the Setup.EXE (do not think it was a .COM), and try the install from there.
Turn off all anti-virus, malware and pop-up blocking software, BEFORE you launch the Setup.EXE.
I’ll check for the exact file, should I have it handy.
Good luck,
Hunt
antivirus off …. the file is a exe i also unzip it and try to run the setup instead same issue…..
Thanks
I’d get it again. ps701.exe is a self running exe updater. there’s no unzipping to do. it uncompresses itself and runs the update, if it can. if it gets an error saying "can’t find photoshop" you need to call adobe customer service and as bob said in post 1, have proof of purchase handy, because that error means you serial number may have been pirated.
I just dl’d and ran it and it all went fine. took about 1 minute total for download and install.
by right clicking on it and chosse extract to here got winzip installed it works im able to unzip it i see the file there with a setup inside when i try to run the setup it goes to 99% and stay there for 2 minutes and then disapear ….. and nothing else…. i kill the process …. i try to do it again and than nothing
Thanks
ok so did you read my posts or what? 😉 download it again and do what i did. if it still fails, reboot and restart in safe mode. then run it. (don’t extract it. run it.)
ok i’ll give a try insafe mode
but in safe i dont have acces to my user in the domain only local user
I’ll try any way
Thanks
sorry for reading your post to fast …. to much to do here
Pierre
No one has pointed out the obvious (or I didn’t see it): The 7.0.1 update won’t apply if the copy of Photoshop 7 is not legal.
So, is it legal?

I KNEW no one was reading my posts!
Nobody reads post one…or at least between the lines of it.
That said, the problem with pirated versions and 7.0.1 was that the updater would return and error that it couldn’t find 7.0.
This is a seemingly different issue.
Bob
Legit version…..
but i’ll give a try in safe mode
