I recently downloaded trials of both Lightroom 2, and CS3 Extended. Since then, I have purchased box sets of each but have not received them yet. When I do, can I just type in the serial # to register the versions already on my system, or do I have to install the new versions? I am concerned about loosing the work that I have already done in Lightroom 2. Thanks very much in advance! Chip

Since this is a USER TO USER forum, not Adobe support, and as the only way another user could reply is if they had that EXACT problem and also had a solution, you may need to contact Adobe for help

Being specific is not the thing… this is not Adobe support, only other users

If someone here has done exactly the same thing… they will be able to answer

Otherwise, for registration procedures… you need to call Adobe to be sure you receive the latest information

Thanks John. It seemed like a pretty standard question to me-something that many people might know, that’s why I posted it here. I called support and they told me that the trial versions weren’t complete. This seems odd considering the fact that when I open up the programs, there is an option to enter a serial # and register the program. I thought the trial versions were complete.

To me too. The other responses you’ve received have been rather melodramatic.

I called support and they told me that the trial versions weren’t complete.

The Trials are certainly feature and code complete. The only things missing are probably Goodies such as bundled fonts, artwork, training videos etc.

I’ve downloaded many Adobe Trials, inc CS3. Then when I purchased, I just entered the serial number into the Trial and activated and registered without any problems. I can’t see why your situation would be any different.

I have no experience with downloaded trials converting to full versions but I recall there was some discussion a while back that suggested there are slightly different serial numbers used for downloaded versions vs. boxed versions. This mght apply to a previous release or the current CS3. Give it a shot but don’t be shocked if it does not work.

Uninstalling a trial app does not remove your documents created with it so I’m confused why there is a problem here.

Unless the "incompleteness" refers to the absence of the licensing software. They’ve been messing about with the trials recently – they were off line for a while – and they may have been introducing some Yaaar-proofing.

Not specific to Photoshop trial, but to Adobe’s Premiere Pro. To upgrade from trial to the full, paid version, one must remove the "trial," just like one must do with a beta version. Then, they need to run the Adobe cleaning app., before attempting to install the full version.

As I have never done a trial, a beta, or even a downloaded version of PS, I cannot directly comment.

This is were a call to Adobe would possibly save a lot of time and frustration. Give that another Adobe "heavy-hitter" has a problem going directly from trial to full, leads me to believe that similar might happen with PS. As I hate to abort installs and/or reinstall any app., I’d take the first advice and call first. Well, maybe not first, as I’d first check the Adobe knowledgebase, just to see if there was a FAQ on trial to full. That might tell you all you need, and furnish links to any "cleaner."
