Help opening a Photoshop file

Hi Everyone

I have a large photoshop file 1GB that I have been working on. It was working fine, until yesterday, then when I tried to open it, it says "could not complete your request because of a program error".

I have tried to place it in Indesign, Illustrator, convert it to PDF, but no luck.

Any help would be appreciated. If there are any Freeware programs that might help if required would also be an advantage.

Try XnView (PC) or Graphics Converter/ Grafikkonverter (Mac). If the file was saved correctly, you might at least be able to extract a flattend version this way and safe it to a different format. There’s a couple of other tools that can load and write layered PSDs such as various of the Corel Tools (Painter for instance), but they don’t support any advanced features introduced over the years, so you may loose info, even if the file opens.
