text and transparent black background

Hi all: I hope veterans of PS3 can help me. I am a newbie and I am trying to put text with a black light film in the background at the bottom of the picture and I cannot do it. I don’t know how to isolate the portion of the picture I want with the text with the light black background while you can still see the picture through black background.

You can add images .

To achieve this effect, place a black box over the image, where you want it to appear, and then set it to 50% transparent. Then add a text layer on top.
