Enton,

It appears that you’ve named your file "jona & stano1.jpg",but I’m thinking that an "&" symbol may not be valid in a web-based file name. Try changing the name to jona_stano1.jpg and re-uploading it to the web. Use some other suitable name if you don’t like that one.

The code on your HTML page looks like this:

<img src="jona%20&%20stano1.jpg" width="937" height="746">

The file name resolves to "jona & stano1.jpg", without a path or drive letter. It’s always good to avoid amersands and spaces in file names for the internet.

In this case, it’s likely that you uploaded the HTML document to your Web site but you either did not upload the image, or you uploaded the image to a different directory than the document.

Enton,

I thought I’d play around and see if I could figure it out, but I just don’t have quite enough knowledge of techniques and/or filters used to get this result. I’ve seen this kind of image before and it does have an interesting look to it. It is almost, yet not quite, like line art. I read once of using the Smart Blur filter to convert an image to line art. Perhaps that is one step toward getting where you want to go, but I suspect not, given that the detail in your image is much better that what I obtained. Here’s an example image that I applied the Smart Blur to followed by Image > Adjustments > Invert: <http://jazzdiver.com/photoshop/smartblur.jpg>

Daryls method is one way; there are actions in the Adobe Expert Center to do this (Pencil Sketch). Log into the Expert Center, you have to register, but it’s free, and you’ll find plenty of "pre-made" actions to help.

Do a search on google for Pencil Sketch Photoshop tutorial as well.

Although I think Daryl’s is a great starting point.

How about using the desaturate (if color), stylize->find edges, levels, then posterize?

Try this for another variation on the photo-to-sketch conversion. Open jpg, and duplicate the background (layer).
On the dup layer, use Image>Adjust>Desaturate, then Image>Adjust>Auto Contrast (or any other way of getting a good b&w image).
Duplicate the desaturated layer, set the new layer blending mode to Color Dodge, and Image>Adjust>Invert ( you should see a mostly white image). Apply Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur, starting with small amount and experimenting with more, as the image emerges as blurring increases.
You can then Merge Down the top two layers, and try Image>Adjust>Threshold (to get rid of the grays, leaving only black and white) or Filter>Noise>Dust and Scratches to get rid of stray spots.

Enton,

Here’s another tutorial that I came across a while back involving scanning a photo to become line art.

< http://www.inkart.com/pages/Tutorial/tutrl_2/project2/pages/ step_1.html>

The saying goes,"there are at least 3 different ways to accomplish something in PS"–when you add the variables of scanning etc.–I think the possibilities compound. Experiment and you may discover a "new" way. Endless hours of discovery await you….

Not all that hard to do..

Open photo then copy {ctrl J} then Image /mode/ grayscale and pick don’t flatten
Image /adjustment / invert

Then in layer tab change top layer to color dodge
next open filters / blur/ Gaussian blur and play with level to get the effect you want

photo into this photo??? Thanks !!!
