I thought I would update my cs3 to 10.1 patch. After I did that I got the above error.

"Licensing for this product has stopped" check with your it administrator.

Then I thought I would find out what happened online and now all I get is a screen asking for my key code. I bought this laptop a year ago with cs3 loaded on it. How do I get this thing working again?

Steve,

You’ll need the original disc with the serial on that. Was the Photoshop license transferred to you when you bought the computer?

Ultimately you can call Adobe, but you probably have to submit some kind of proof that you are using this copy in a legitimate way.

Ask the previous owner (can’t be a new laptop with PS on it and all) whether or not he registered the software with Adobe. If so, chances are they can provide the disc/serial.

That is, if the previous owner hasn’t got anything anymore.

Failing all this, you’re stuck, IMO.

I cant find the transaction on ebay or my paypal account. Incredible, I know I bought it on ebay and paid for it on paypal but their is no trace either place. Ebay only keeps records for 60 days now and apparently he/I never left feedback. I can understand that but I cant find the charge on paypal. Very strange.

Anyway after spending 4 hours trying to undo this I used system Restore to the day before and I got it back.

thanks

technically, if you didn’t get a transfer of license specifically for photoshop, you’re using it illegally and you should delete it from your system.

This is exactly why illegal software keeps being sold on eBay. Because the buyers only report it when it doesn’t work.

They don’t care that it’s illegal until there’s a problem with it.

Note: these are general remarks and not aimed at the OP who likely had no idea he was using software in violation of Adobe’s EULA.

Good news but bad news for all you nea sayers. I found the software in one of numerous pouches on the travel bag that came with the laptop. Sorry to ruin you day.

….and you didn’t ruin our day. In fact, at some point in the future, we’ll be welcoming you again, when you will have another issue with your PS having stopped for some unreasonable reason.
