I get this message, which goes on… Read the composite data instead. I click yes and then get a message saying that the file is not compatible with my version of photoshop.

I’m running XP SP2 and Photoshop CS3.

The file is made on a pc running XP SP2, with CS3 and then sent to me via yousendit.

This customer has been sending me files like this for printing for the 12 months or more, without a problem.

This file is just a slightly changed earlier one which worked.

Googling gave me error with fonts, so I checked the fonts used and I have all of them installed on my machine.

I also found a bit about compatibility,
If you are saving files in Photoshop CS3 for use in earlier versions, then save them with this option on (that is, set to Ask or Always).

To change the Maximize File Compatibility option:

Choose Photoshop > Preferences > File Handling.
Change Maximize PSD And PSB File Compatibility to one of the following: — Ask: Prompts you to maximize file compatibility when you save. — Always: Saves with maximized file compatibility without asking. — Never: Does not save or prompt you to save with maximized file compatibility.

Although we are both using CS3, and it didn’t help anyway.

A flattened tiff file worked a treat, but this is a pain as any little tweeks needed before printing I could do here, whereas it takes longer to describe what needs doing and how to do it than me actually doing it, which I can’t with a flattened image 🙂

He’s sending me a copy on a cd to see if anything has changed by sending via yousendit.

Anyone any clues?

is this a psd file? you don’t actually say. if so you can try this free util (scroll down through the link below to "Photoshop file (PSD) Extract/Recover tool") written by forum regular Toby Thain.

Sorry yes it is a psd.
I’m not so worried about this image, as we are now osrted, but I’m worried about going forward, if we have similar errors, as I get quite a lot of work from him and am looking at what might need to be done to stop it happening again if possible.
Maybe he’s changed a setting, though he says he hasn’t etc.

cd burned image works fine in both photoshop 7 on my office pc and cs3 on my editing pc, so must have been something to do with yousendit.
Odd it’s worked so many times before, I’ll have to see what happens next time.
