double drop shadows not possible?

I’m trying to make a file have a drop shadow appearing on both sides. So, naturally I duplicated the layer & flipped it. This flipped the drop shadow underneat. Undo. I manually changed the drop shadow on the new layer to point the other direction. The layer beneath again followed suit. What’s the problem here? Any other way to accomplish what I’m after in CS2? Thanks for the help.

Global light unchecked?

You can also create the second layer with the fill (not opacity) set to 0, so you don’t have any trouble with anti-aliased pixels doubling.

what or where is the Global light? and sorry I don’t know what your second suggestion means either, tolerance to 0?

You see the global light checkbox in the effects pane. Also, as you notice, my black circle with the drop shadow has a 0 fill, so that it shows the white background beneath. All that exists of the object is its effects.

ah thanks guys! The global light option was indeed the problem =]
