How are you saving the file? Save for Web always works well for me.
What’s your disc setup? Save for web does a "blind" write (as obviously it is meant to update files in use by other programs) and that may go *poof*, either due to some delay or driver issues e.g. with SATA discs.

Save for web does a "blind" write
???
I am getting a message in Illustrator telling me that "the dimensions of this page are out of range. What the hell does that mean?…it won’t let me save it in any format without giving me this message. What…any answers out there…I’ve done all this work and it won’t let me save!

Josh, please put your question up again in the Illustrator forum. My humble, unqualified answer to the issue: You are trying to create a document in a non-print-standard format and AI frowns on the aspect ratio mismatch because it cannot make sense of the printable areas/ art boards in terms of rasterization/ resolution. I had this once when in fact I wanted to create a document that was too "thin". Something like that for sure. If you get a good answer to this, let us know

I don’t rant, i "share wisdom". 🙂
the question marks mean i’ve never heard that "Save for web does a "blind" write " and was an invitation for you to expound on that statement. 🙂
Help,
I am using CS (not 2, 3 or 4) and am having a problem with illustrator.
When I save as .ai, the save doesn’t seem to complete (the status bar stops short and disappears) without giving me an error message. Then when I open it, the artboard is resized to the size of the elements and any text boxes are broken into lines or individual letters.
I have tried reinstalling but still have the problem. Please help asap as I use this for work.
thanx,Kenny
