I don’t think I want to do that. irfanview tends to take over your system.

The person who I’m doing this for told me that he could open the file using another program,,,just not Photoshop.

just not Photoshop

You’ve already answered your own question

Use that other program to convert to a format Photoshop supports

Yes, it is. If you’re loathe to install anything, try XnView. It runs right away after extracting it from a zip file. May provide the same solution to your problem without cluttering up the system…

So the verdict is that Photoshop can’t open these, right?

If that’s the conclusion. Thanks for your help.

Hi, ArtJ

No Problems with Ifanview.
Just set the one file association to JP2.
Tick one box only!
No other files will be involved.

Lazy people select ‘all’ and then wonder what’s happening!

There should be no problem opening/saving JPEG 2000 files in Photoshop, so maybe you don’t have the JPEG2000.8BI file in your "Plug-Ins\File Formats" folder.

If not, you’ll find it in the "Goodies/Optional Plug‑Ins/File Formats" folder on the installation CD.

"Lizard tech is a proprietary jpg2000 so it’s different than standard
jpg2000."

Ah so! — didn’t realize they had a different format. If so, maybe the LizardTech GeoExpress 7 SDK <http://www.lizardtech.com/developer/> would help.

No, I do have it, the Lizard tech is a proprietary jpg2000 so it’s different than standard jpg2000
