Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me with this. I have some small old photos and I’d like to open a new file and insert these photos onto an A4 sized page. What I’m after is that a few of these small photos can then be placed onto a blank A4 sized page and printed out.

When I clike File, New, the size it gives is 6 inches by 4 inches. How can I change this to make it A4 size and how do I insert photos onto this "blank canvas"?

I’m not too hot on Photoshop but can re-size photos and use clone stamp etc and thats about it.

Open your blank A4 page. Open your photos. Using the move tool drag each one into the blank page.

They will be on different layers and can be dragged around to fit.

You could also run a script which will import all photos in a folder as separate layers. I have this and use it:

Get the script here:

(Hmmm…does PS CS(1) support scripting? I don’t know…)

Moving individual images:

They’ll each be on their own layer, so select your Move Tool (shortcut: "v") highlight the layer it’s on in the Layers Palette, click and drag within the document window.

Sounds like you might want to spend some time experimenting and going through the Help Files and the PDF manual, Lacey. You’ll be forever asking simple questions if you don’t first get a handle at least on what the tools do.

Thanks for your help. I used the Move Tool and managed to place them where I wanted them on the new canvas.

Sometimes when you want to do something as simple as this, the help files are a bit too technical. I’m not too hot on layers and stuff. But at least I got what I wanted to do.

I have always found Help to be helpful. You might want to read the section about Using Layers. Not that technical and it might give you a better idea of what’s going on.
